Ukrainian FPV Team Vaporizes Russia’s TOS-1A Thermobaric “Solntsepyok” on Lyman Front, Video

Ukrainian drone operators have destroyed a Russian TOS-1A “Solntsepyok,” one of Moscow’s most feared thermobaric rocket systems, during operations on the Lyman axis, according to video released by Ukraine’s 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade on November 26.
The strike was carried out by pilots from Ukraine’s Third Army Corps, who used a low-cost FPV attack drone to hit the launcher’s ammunition, triggering a massive detonation that obliterated the system.
The TOS-1A is a 220mm heavy flamethrower system that fires thermobaric rockets capable of flattening fortifications and saturating a wide area with extreme overpressure. Russia relies on the system to break defensive lines and support assaults with devastating close-range firepower.
“Maximum damage measured in millions of dollars—and a full rocket detonation—all thanks to an FPV drone worth only a few hundred bucks and the priceless work of our pilots,” the brigade wrote.

Footage published by the unit shows the drone closing in on the launcher before the entire payload erupts in a fireball, sending debris flying across the area.
The TOS-1A Solntsepyok is a Russian heavy flamethrower system that launches thermobaric rockets from a modified T-72 tank chassis. Designed to devastate light armoured vehicles, fortifications, and concentrations of troops, its munitions produce extreme overpressure and oxygen-depleting fireballs that are lethal in enclosed areas.

Each unguided 220 mm rocket is about 3.7 meters long, weighs over 200 kilograms, and carries a fuel-air explosive warhead. A single salvo can obliterate fortified positions in seconds.
Earlier, Moscow rolled out a compact robotic launcher that mounts infantry rocket tubes on an unarmored ground drone—a concept framed as a cheap analogue of the heavy TOS-1A thermobaric system but looks short on protection, logistics, and proven capability.
