Ukrainian Ground Drone With Machine Gun Defends Frontline Position Solo for 45 Days

A ground-based combat drone operated by Ukraine’s Third Assault Brigade held a frontline position for 45 consecutive days without infantry presence, the Third Assault Corps reported on December 23.
According to the unit, the unmanned ground vehicle was deployed daily to a contested sector, where it used machine-gun fire to suppress repeated Russian attempts to advance.

The mission was carried out by operators from the brigade’s NC13 strike robotic unit, who controlled a DevDroid TW 12.7 platform remotely from a protected position.
Throughout the six-week operation, Russian forces failed to infiltrate or seize the position, while Ukrainian troops sustained zero personnel losses. The brigade described the mission as evidence that robotic systems are moving beyond experimentation and are now capable of performing some of the most dangerous battlefield tasks without risking infantry lives.
The Third Assault Corps said the operation marks a turning point in the war’s technological dimension, showcasing the growing role of unmanned systems on the front lines.

“This is what the point of no return in the technology war looks like—and the Third Army Corps remains on the front line!” The brigade wrote in a post on Telegram.
Previously, it was reported that Ukrainian unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) “Ravlyk” (“Snail”) completed its mission on the front despite coming under artillery fire and being hit three times by Russian FPV drones, Defender Media reported.
