Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense (HUR) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs successfully conducted operation to evacuate Ukrainians from Lebanon on October 1, HUR reported on October 2.

A total of 179 people were evacuated, including 134 Ukrainian citizens. Among the evacuees were 112 adults and 22 children from Ukraine.

“It’s incredible, especially with the war ongoing in Ukraine. I never expected that anyone would be concerned about Ukrainians abroad, let alone somewhere in the Middle East. My friends from other countries didn’t believe it when I told them that Ukraine was bringing its citizens home for free,” shared Anastasia from Mykolaiv.

Additionally, 45 people of other nationalities were evacuated: 16 Polish citizens (10 adults and 6 children), 6 Czech citizens (5 adults and 1 child), 9 Lithuanian citizens (6 adults and 3 children), 12 Moldovan citizens (7 adults and 5 children), 1 Brazilian citizen, and 2 Lebanese citizens.

Along with the people, three pets—two dogs and a cat—were also evacuated.

This operation is part of broader efforts to repatriate Ukrainian citizens due to the worsening security and economic situation in the region. It follows previous successful evacuations: on September 4, 2024, 25 Ukrainians (14 women and 11 children) were brought home, and on August 3, 30 Ukrainians (21 women and 9 children) were evacuated. In total, 234 individuals have been evacuated from Lebanon, including 189 Ukrainian citizens and 45 foreigners.
