Ukrainian Interceptor Drones Successfully Operate Alongside F-16s During Nighttime Attack

During a Russian overnight strike on August 30, Ukrainian interceptor drones successfully engaged Russian targets alongside F-16 fighter jets, according to Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat.
Speaking on national television, Ihnat confirmed that the drones had performed effectively during the operation. “Interceptor drones worked quite well today. I won’t say where or how many, but they did their job, just as the F-16s and other aircraft did,” he noted.
He added that interceptor drones are showing growing effectiveness on the battlefield, underscoring their expanding role in Ukraine’s layered air defense.

According to Ihnat, the modernization of Ukraine’s defense capabilities continues. This process, he said, includes not only technical innovations and scaling up production but also the creation of new units and the recruitment of specialists.
Ukraine has increasingly deployed interceptor drones against Russian aerial attacks, including Shahed-type drones, with the systems becoming an important complement to manned aircraft in countering large-scale strikes.
Earlier in August, Ukrainian company Tenebris introduced the “Bagnet” interceptor drone, designed to hunt and destroy Russian Shahed and Gerbera drones midair.
Equipped with optical guidance and machine vision, Bagnet can operate autonomously in electronic warfare conditions, reaching speeds up to 250 km/h and engaging targets through direct-impact interception.
