Ukrainian drone manufacturer Tenebris has unveiled a new high-speed interceptor drone named “Bagnet,” purpose-built to neutralize enemy UAVs such as Russian Shahed and Gerbera drones.

The system was introduced in early 2024 and is currently undergoing field testing before frontline deployment, as reported by Militarnyi and Ukrinform on August 6.

“The Bagnet was developed with consideration for the increased speed of Shaheds—from 200 to 250 km/h—and their maneuverability in the final phase of approach,” said Kyrylo Andrusyak, co-owner of Tenebris, in comments to Ukrinform. “This is a specialized product for intercepting both Shaheds and Gerberas.”

Bagnet is engineered for autonomous operations in contested electronic warfare environments. It uses optical sensors and onboard machine vision to detect and intercept targets without relying on GPS or radio communication. The system launches automatically, navigates to visual contact, and engages its target via direct-impact interception.

Bagnet Technical Specifications:

  • Cruising speed: 140 km/h;

  • Maximum speed: 250 km/h;

  • Flight time: 20 minutes;

  • Camera types: Digital, thermal, low-light;

  • Warhead weight: 1,000 g;

  • Guidance: Automated visual targeting;

  • Tactical range: 15 km;

  • Targeting method: Fully automated engagement.

Bagnet is classified as a fast-response UAV interceptor, capable of striking both reconnaissance and loitering munition drones. Its modular composite airframe allows for quick field servicing and component replacement.

Andrusyak also underscored the importance of operator readiness: “Beyond serial production, a key component is preparing the mobile fire teams that will deploy these drones.”

Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian air defense units may soon face a new threat: jet-powered variants of Shahed drones.

Experts warn that these upgraded UAVs could fly significantly faster than existing models, reducing response time for interceptors and complicating tracking by radar systems.
