Ukrainian Navy Destroys Russian Kh-59 Missile Aimed at Pivdennyi Port, Video
The crew of a Ukrainian Navy boat successfully intercepted and destroyed a Russian Kh-59 missile aimed at civilian infrastructure in the Black Sea port of Pivdennyi on January 25. The missile, launched from a Russian Su-57 aircraft, was neutralized before reaching its intended target.
According to the Ukrainian Navy’s official Telegram channel, the interception was part of ongoing operations to defend critical infrastructure from Russian attacks. Military personnel also released video footage documenting the successful neutralization of the missile.
The Port of Pivdennyi plays a significant role in Ukraine’s maritime logistics, facilitating the export of grain and other essential goods. Its strategic importance has made it a recurring target of Russian military actions.
On January 25, Russian forces escalated their attacks across Ukraine, deploying drones and missiles in multiple regions.
In addition, the Ukrainian military reported increased naval activity by Russian forces. One missile carrier was deployed in the Black Sea, while six warships, including two equipped with Kalibr missiles, were stationed in the Mediterranean.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Navy reported the destruction of over 37,000 Russian drones in 2024, including FPV drones, attack UAVs, Shahed-136/131, and operational-tactical drones. The Navy also confirmed sinking five Russian ships during the same period.
