Ukrainian Security Forces Detain Russian Mole Infiltrating Military and Adjusting Artillery Strikes

The Military Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine has detained a Russian military intelligence agent in the Sumy region. The agent was assisting the Russian forces’ advance in the Kursk region and adjusting artillery fire on Ukrainian units.
This was reported by the HUR on March 25.
According to case materials, the agent was recruited by the Russian forces through a Telegram channel, where he posted comments supporting the Russian forces.
“After being recruited, the agent was tasked with ‘infiltrating’ the Ukrainian military to gather intelligence for Russia,” HUR wrote.

To carry out his mission, he first enlisted in a military unit in one of Ukraine’s rear regions and later transferred to a combat brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces operating in the Kursk region.
“While on the frontlines, the ‘mole’ prepared coordinates for missile and bomb strikes by the aggressor on Ukrainian military positions,” the HUR statement reads.
Among the main reported targets for the Russian forces were the radio-electronic warfare systems protecting Ukrainian troops from drone attacks. Additionally, they aimed to obtain coordinates for Ukrainian self-propelled artillery systems, which were keeping the Russian assault groups under fire control.

The gathered information was sent by the agent to his handler via messenger, in the form of photos of Ukrainian weaponry, its locations on Google Maps, and written comments.
Military counterintelligence of the HUR uncovered the Russian agent early in his collaboration. During this period, comprehensive measures were taken to secure the locations of Ukraine’s defense forces, and every step of the agent’s actions was documented.
At the final stage of the special operation, the HUR apprehended the suspect “in the act,” as he was preparing an intelligence report for the Russian military intelligence.
HUR investigators have charged the agent under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed in wartime conditions). The criminal is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
On March 21, Ukraine’s Air Force successfully struck a concentration of Russian troops from the 1st Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade and the 103rd Motor Rifle Regiment, who were sheltering in a fortified building and its basement in the city of Toretsk, Donetsk region.
