Drone operators from the “Phoenix” strike UAV company, part of Ukraine’s “Revenge” Brigade, have destroyed a Russian R-330ZH “Zhitel” electronic warfare system using FPV drones during an assault in Donetsk region.
The unit’s press service published video footage of the strike on March 23.
“In Donetsk region, under the cover of their R-330ZH 'Zhitel' system, the enemy attempted to break through toward Ukrainian positions. The result was predictable: 'Phoenix' took out all enemy targets,” the unit reported.
The footage shows Russian forces attempting a mechanized assault using a tank outfitted with a large anti-drone cage. However, the tank was first struck by a bomber drone and then finished off with multiple FPV drone hits.
The Zhitel system itself was detected by a reconnaissance drone and then destroyed with an FPV drone. The strike caused a fire that completely engulfed and destroyed the equipment.

The Russian R-330ZH “Zhitel” electronic warfare complex is designed to automatically detect, locate, and analyze radio emissions within its operational frequency range. According to Russian specifications, the system can jam satellite communication terminals, including Inmarsat and Iridium, as well as disrupt navigation equipment using the NAVSTAR (GPS) system. It can also interfere with GSM-900/1800/1900 cellular networks.
In February 2025, Ukrainian forces also destroyed a Russian R-330ZH “Zhitel” system and a Msta-B howitzer in Russia’s Kursk region.
Earlier, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, in coordination with the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Rocket Forces, and Artillery, destroyed four Russian helicopters—two Ka-52 attack helicopters and two Mi-8 transport helicopters—in Russia’s Belgorod region, the SSO reported on March 24.
