The damage caused by Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy facilities over the past six months is estimated at approximately 60 billion rubles (around $711 million).

This was reported on March 25 by Radio Svoboda in collaboration with the Ukrainian project Frontelligence Insight. They analyzed over 100 satellite images showing the aftermath of the Ukrainian strikes.

Experts note that the actual damage to Russia’s energy sector and economy could be higher. The estimate provided represents a minimum evaluation, based on verifiable data, primarily satellite images, as well as videos from strike sites and cases where Russia itself confirmed the damage. According to less conservative estimates, Russia’s losses in the past six months may have reached 80 billion rubles (around $949 million).

Based on data provided by the GeoConfirmed project, the news outlet compiled its own database. This includes attacks on Russian or occupied territories from September 1, 2024, to February 12, 2025.

According to the gathered data, at least 67% of Ukrainian strikes have been successful, while the outcome of the remaining attacks remains unknown or it is impossible to prove Ukraine’s involvement. The “Unknown” category also includes videos of Ukrainian drones flying over Russian territory, with their target unclear.

At the beginning of the analyzed period, Ukrainian strikes more frequently targeted military objects (particularly ammunition depots). However, over time, the focus shifted towards oil and gas storage facilities, as well as oil refineries.

On March 20, Ukraine’s Armed Forces confirmed a successful strike on Russia’s Engels Airbase in the Saratov region, targeting a storage facility containing Kh-101 cruise missiles used by Russian bombers to attack Ukraine.
