A Ukrainian tank rolled to point-blank distance and fired directly into a multi-story apartment block where Russian troops were positioned in the city of Rodynske, north of Pokrovsk, according to a statement released by the 14th “Chervona Kalyna” Brigade of the Azov Corps of the National Guard on December 9.

The operation was carried out using a T-72 main battle tank belonging to the brigade’s “Wolf Pack” tank company.

The crew reportedly closed in on the targeted building, stopped adjacent to the structure, and opened fire at close range. The brigade said Ukrainian forces “confirmed the occupiers did not survive.”

Rodynske holds strategic significance as a support hub for Russian logistics around the northern flank of Pokrovsk and toward Myrnohrad, a town where Russian forces have intensified efforts to seize ground.

The brigade added that details of the tank operation were withheld for some time for security reasons to avoid jeopardizing its execution.

Earlier, Ukrainian armored units already entered combat with Russian troops in the city of Rodynske.
