Ukrainian Troops Regain Territory in Donetsk Region With Heavy Russian Casualties

Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue offensive operations on the Dobropillia axis, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on September 22.
“Over the past day, Ukrainian forces regained control of 1.3 km² and carried out search-and-destroy operations against the enemy across 2.1 km² in Pokrovsk district, Donetsk region,” he stated.
The fighting resulted in 43 Russian troops killed, with total daily losses reaching 65 personnel. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 11 units of Russian equipment, including four artillery systems, six UAVs, and one motorcycle.

In total, since the start of the operation, Ukrainian troops have liberated 164.5 km² and cleared an additional 180.8 km² of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups. Seven settlements have been brought back under control, while nine more have been fully cleared.
Russian forces have lost 2,696 personnel in the sector, including 1,492 irrecoverable losses. Equipment losses stand at 856 units, among them 12 tanks, 38 armored vehicles, 175 artillery systems, five MLRS, 441 vehicles, 58 motorcycles and quad bikes, one piece of special equipment, and 173 UAVs.
Earlier, it was reported that in August Ukraine’s Defense Forces reclaimed 58 square kilometers of land and freed several settlements from Russian control.
