The United States has prohibited the United Kingdom from sharing intelligence gathered by American agencies with Ukraine, Daily Mail reported on March 4.

According to the news agency, all UK intelligence agencies and military branches received explicit orders prohibiting the sharing of U.S.-generated intelligence, previously labeled Rel UKR .

Daily Mail added that since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the UK, along with other Western security partners like Australia and New Zealand, has been sharing this intelligence with Ukraine.

The ban reportedly impacts agencies such as the UK’s GCHQ , as well as the intelligence divisions of the Ministry of Defense and other spy agencies.

UK military intelligence expert Phil Ingram told the agency that the United States’ directive to halt the sharing of U.S.-derived intelligence with Ukraine is unsurprising.

“The US’s intelligence partners, including Britain, have had their authority to pass on intelligence revoked,” he said.

This intelligence-sharing suspension follows the U.S. decision to temporarily pause its military aid to Ukraine.

“This is a temporary pause,” U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson said on March 4 in response to questions about the U.S. administration’s decision to halt military assistance to Ukraine.
