An American defense company Aeon has confirmed an active partnership with one of Ukraine’s largest drone manufacturers.

This collaboration aims to adapt the Zeus guided missile system for use on quadcopter drones, according to Defence Blog on April 9.

Naveed Tahmas, the CEO and founder of Aeon, discussed the partnership in an interview, noting that it is a significant move toward creating affordable, high-precision strike systems. These systems utilize commercially scalable drones that are already being used in active zones of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Tahmas confirmed that the integration process is already underway. “We are currently partnering with one of the largest Ukrainian drone companies and are currently integrating to launch quadcopters to provide greater accuracy and distance,” he told.

The project addresses a critical need for accessible and precise weapons that can be deployed by unmanned platforms without the high costs and logistical requirements of older missile systems.

Standard precision weapons, such as the Javelin, were not built to be integrated with drones. The Zeus system was designed specifically to fill this gap, using a modular design and the ODIN guidance software for fast adaptation.

With a cost of approximately $50,000 per unit, the Zeus is much more affordable than traditional guided missiles. This makes it a viable option for large-scale deployment on drone platforms.

Aeon is also looking into using Zeus for ground vehicles and naval vessels through another partnership in Ukraine.

The CEO noted that the Ukrainian drone industry has become highly experienced and technically flexible. This allows for faster development than traditional defense cycles. By working with Ukrainian partners, Aeon gains direct access to feedback from the battlefield.

“I started Aeon based on what I saw in Ukraine — the importance of cost, scale, and adaptability,” Tahmas told. “Threats and tactics are changing fast, and systems must keep pace and stay one step ahead.”

The Ukrainian military has already demonstrated that precision munitions delivered by drones can be highly effective against armored targets. Integrating a guided missile with beyond-line-of-sight targeting could significantly increase the strike capabilities and reach of drone operators.

Aeon has not yet announced a timeline for when the drone-integrated Zeus system will be fully operational. The company currently holds multimillion-dollar contracts with the US government, showing that American military officials are following the program's progress closely.

On March 30, 2026, Ukrainian drone manufacturer General Chereshnya and US-based Wilcox Industries agreed to establish a joint venture in the United States to produce FPV and interceptor drones.

The partnership focused on launching localized production to supply the American defense market and fulfill Pentagon contracts.

By combining Ukrainian battlefield experience with US engineering, the companies aimed to develop advanced drone systems and intended to pursue Blue UAS certification to meet military security standards.
