Ukraine Blinds Two Russian Airfields, Destroying Pantsir-S1 and Four Radar Systems

Ukrainian drone operators destroyed five Russian air defense and radar assets at the Yeysk and Millerovo military airfields, Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces reported on August 30.
Follow-up reconnaissance confirmed the destruction of one Pantsir-S1 air defense gun-missile system and four Russian radar systems, according to the Ukrainian military.

One of the primary targets was the DRL-27 module of the RSP-27 system at the Millerovo airfield.
The DRL-27 is an airfield surveillance and control radar used to detect aerial targets and support air traffic management around military aviation facilities.

Its destruction could reduce Russia’s ability to monitor airspace and coordinate aircraft movements around the airfield.
The Pantsir-S1, meanwhile, is designed to provide short-range protection against aircraft, missiles and drones and is frequently deployed to defend high-value military facilities.

Ukrainian forces also struck additional infrastructure at the two Russian military airfields.
The Unmanned Systems Forces said the results of the operation were confirmed through follow-up reconnaissance.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Security Service struck a Russian Tu-95MS strategic bomber at Engels, home to a key base for Moscow’s long-range aviation fleet used to launch cruise missile attacks against Ukraine.
