Ukraine Hammers Russian Missile Unit in Sweeping 16-Target Deep-Strike Barrage

Ukrainian forces struck a Russian missile unit along with airfields, oil facilities, military infrastructure and logistics sites as part of a sweeping long-range operation that hit 16 targets inside Russia over the past 24 hours, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on August 26.

The missile unit was among infrastructure Ukraine says is routinely used to launch attacks against Ukrainian territory, making it one of the most significant targets disclosed by Zelenskyy in the latest round of deep strikes.

“Over the past day, our warriors imposed sanctions on 16 targets in Russia. In particular, there were long-range responses against oil facilities—Russia’s oil wallet that finances the war. They also struck airfields, a missile unit, and infrastructure that is constantly used to launch attacks against Ukraine. Our sanctions also hit a military enterprise and Russian logistics,” he said.

Zelenskyy has repeatedly referred to Ukraine’s long-range strikes as “sanctions,” arguing that attacks on oil infrastructure and other strategic facilities directly reduce Moscow’s ability to finance and sustain its war of aggression against Ukraine.

The latest campaign appears to have combined strikes against Russia’s military capabilities with attacks intended to increase the economic cost of the war.

“The war must return to where it came from. Ukraine responds to Russian strikes, and we do so in a way that ensures the cost of the war for the aggressor inevitably rises. We are justly reducing Russia’s capacity for aggression. I thank all the warriors involved for their accuracy! Glory to Ukraine!” Zelenskyy wrote.

Separately, Ukraine’s General Staff reported a series of strikes against Russian military infrastructure across occupied Ukrainian territory on August 25 and overnight into August 26.

In Kacha in occupied Crimea, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian Kasta radar system. Another operation hit a Russian drone training center in occupied Luhansk.

Ukraine also targeted a Russian repair and recovery base in Pervomaiske in occupied Crimea, according to the General Staff.

A series of strikes hit Russian supply infrastructure, including a fuel and lubricants depot in Prychepylivka in the Luhansk region and logistics warehouses in Svobodne in the Donetsk region and Novoivanivka in occupied Crimea.

Ammunition depots were also struck in Staryi Krym and Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region.

In Chornomorske in occupied Crimea, Ukrainian forces hit a ground relay station used to support Russian Geran and Gerbera drones.

The General Staff said assessments of the damage caused by the strikes were still underway.

Previously, reports emerged that Ukrainian strikes have disabled eight of Wildberries’ 10 largest logistics centers in Russia since mid-July, affecting more than 81% of their combined warehouse space.
