According to Politico, the White House is in the final stages of developing a plan to ease restrictions on Ukraine's use of US weapons. The agency reported this on Wednesday, September 11, citing a Western official and other sources familiar with the discussions, who were granted anonymity.

The negotiations were held by a small group of officials in the White House, one of the people involved in the conversation stated. The details of the plan are still being negotiated.

According to the sources, in recent days, officials in Washington, London, and Kyiv have been discussing expanding the territory inside Russia that Ukraine can hit with American and British-made weapons. They also discussed how to prevent additional cross-border attacks by Russia, including the US agreeing to allow Ukraine to use British long-range missiles, which contain US components, to launch strikes on Russian territory.

The Guardian wrote on September 11 that Britain has already decided to allow Ukraine to hit targets in Russia with long-range Storm Shadow missiles. However, it has not made it public yet.

On September 13, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US President Joe Biden are expected to discuss Russia’s war in Ukraine and the ways to end it, as well as permission to fire long-range missiles at the Russian territory. Further talks on the issue are expected this weekend to inform key European allies of the outcome.
