During negotiations between US and Ukrainian delegations in Geneva on November 23, the two sides developed an “updated and refined” plan to end the war, the White House reported on the same day. According to the statement, Washington and Kyiv agreed that any future settlement must uphold Ukraine’s sovereignty and ensure a “just and lasting peace.”

“Both sides agreed the consultations were highly productive. The discussions showed meaningful progress toward aligning positions and identifying clear next steps. They reaffirmed that any future agreement must fully uphold Ukraine’s sovereignty and deliver a sustainable and just peace. As a result of the discussions, the parties drafted an updated and refined peace framework,” the statement said.

After the Geneva talks, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that certain adjustments would be made to the American plan. He noted that the meeting had been “the most productive and meaningful” on the peace process. Andriy Yermak, who headed the Ukrainian delegation, also described the dialogue as “highly productive.”

The parties agreed to continue working on joint proposals in the coming days and to maintain “close contact” with European partners. “Final decisions under this framework will be made by the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States,” the statement emphasized.

US and Ukrainian officials are considering a possible visit by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United States this week, as President Trump seeks to secure an Ukraine agreement by Thanksgiving, CBS News reported.

Previously on November 23, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the current draft of the US peace plan includes elements aligned with Ukraine’s national interests. His comments came after initial rounds of talks in Geneva between Ukraine, the United States, and European officials.
