Our correspondent Mykyta Ilchenko followed Code 9.2’s Vampire crew, a four-person team operating deep in Russia’s Kursk region, where they carry out high-risk drone missions each night.
Equipped with heavy bombers, FPV drones, and advanced automation, they target Russian MLRS systems and moving tanks with precision strikes, using reconnaissance drones to identify their marks before unleashing devastating attacks.
The unit’s pilots, many of whom had no prior military experience, have adapted rapidly, mastering complex drone operations in a matter of months.
By maintaining constant pressure in Kursk, Code 9.2 forces Russian troops to spread thin, weakening their offensive in the east. With Ukraine facing a manpower shortage, these drone units play a crucial role in counterbalancing Russia’s numerical advantage.
