U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, will travel to Moscow this week to discuss Russia’s war against Ukraine and push for a ceasefire, according to AFP on March 12.

Speaking to reporters, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized that Ambassador Witkoff’s visit is part of Washington’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to end Russia’s aggression and achieve an immediate ceasefire.

“Ambassador Witkoff will be in Moscow this week as part of our continued efforts to press Russia to agree to a ceasefire and stop its brutal war against Ukraine,” Leavitt stated.

Leavitt also revealed that today, President Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, held a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart.

"As for Russia, President [Donald Trump's] team continues its communication with the Russians. Our National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, held a phone call today with his Russian counterpart," Levitt said in an interview with Fox News.

Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that American representatives were traveling to Russia.
