On March 12, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism regarding a potential ceasefire in Ukraine, stating that the U.S. has received “some positive messages” following recent negotiations in Saudi Arabia.

“Hopefully, we can get a ceasefire,” Trump told reporters during a meeting with Irish Prime Minister at the White House.

When asked whether the U.S. could apply pressure on Russia, Trump acknowledged the possibility but suggested he hopes it won’t be necessary. “Sure, we can pressure. We can do that with Russia,” he said.

“Russia took Georgia from Bush. They took a premier from a man named Obama, Barack Hussein Obama. They tried to take the whole thing from Biden. Who’s the only one that never took anything from Trump?”

Trump also noted that discussions have covered significant details, including territorial aspects of the proposed agreement, but stressed the need to focus on “real progress”.

“We’ve discussed a lot of the details, including the areas of land involved in the proposed deal, but we don’t want to be wasting time,” Trump said.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that American representatives were traveling to Russia.
