Zelenksyy: Ukraine Now Has ATACMS, and We Will Use Them
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refrained from confirming whether the recent strike on a Russian ammunition depot near Bryansk was carried out using the US ATACMS missile, but emphasized that Ukraine possesses long-range capabilities, which it will continue to utilize.
President Zelenskyy stated this during a joint press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on November 19.
Zelenskyy responded to a question about the possible use of ATACMS for the attack on the military warehouse, stating: “Without going into details, Ukraine has long-range capabilities, including domestically produced drones, the extended-range Neptune missile, and now ATACMS. We will use all of these.”
Zelenskyy and Frederiksen also visited Ukrainian producers of long-range drones and met with servicemen who operate them. The President highlighted the critical role of international cooperation in strengthening Ukraine’s defense.
They reviewed drones procured with Denmark’s support under a unique funding model, where Danish resources are allocated to state contracts with local manufacturers. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude, saying, “Denmark is a friend we can truly rely on. Together, we protect the lives of Ukrainians, produce weapons for our defense, and work on recovery from the devastation caused by this war.”
Earlier, it was reported that explosions had occurred at the ammunition depot in the town of Karachev, Bryansk region, with a large fire ensuing.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that Ukrainian forces had targeted the depot, which contained artillery shells, including North Korean munitions, anti-aircraft missiles, and rockets for multiple launch systems. Early reports indicated that secondary explosions and detonations were observed at the site.
Subsequent reports from defense sources suggested that Ukrainian forces may have used ATACMS missiles for the strike. Initially, Russian officials claimed that drones were responsible for the attack, but later acknowledged that six ATACMS missiles had allegedly hit the depot.
