Zelenskyy Discusses Patriot Systems and Joint Weapons Production with US Envoy Kellogg

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with US Special Envoy for Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg, in Kyiv to discuss key areas of cooperation aimed at securing Ukraine’s future, Zelenskyy reported on Telegram on September 12.
The talks centered on PURL initiative, which focuses on funding the procurement of Patriot air defense systems, as well as bilateral agreements on joint weapons and drone production.
Zelenskyy expressed hope for a positive US response to these proposals.
The two officials also discussed strategies to pressure Russia, including sanctions and tariffs, and agreed that a trilateral leaders’ summit would be the most effective way to end the war.
Additionally, they addressed the ongoing issue of Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russian forces, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation for their return.
Zelenskyy extended his condolences to the American people over the recent murder of Charlie Kirk and thanked US President Trump for his reaction to the killing of Ukrainian citizen Iryna Zarutska in North Carolina.
“It is important that justice prevails whenever violence attempts to gain the upper hand,” Zelenskyy said.
Looking ahead, Zelenskyy and Kellogg discussed Ukraine’s upcoming participation in the 80th UN General Assembly session in New York, with plans for further coordination and collaboration with the US and global partners.
Previously, Keith Kellogg had stated that Russia’s missile strike on a government building in Kyiv cannot be seen as a signal of Moscow’s readiness to end the war through diplomacy.
