Zelenskyy: Drones Over Ukraine Reveal Putin’s True Attitude Toward Easter and Human Life

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Russia’s declaration of an Easter ceasefire as misleading, noting that Russian attack drones were spotted over Ukraine shortly after the announcement.
On April 19, Russian leader Vladimir Putin ordered a halt to military operations from 18:00 on April 19 until 00:00 on April 21, framing it as a gesture in observance of Easter.
However, Ukrainian officials reported ongoing air raid alerts and the presence of Russian drones shortly after the ceasefire was meant to begin.
“Russian attack drones were recorded in Ukrainian airspace at 17:15,” Zelenskyy said in a statement. “Air defense units and aviation are already responding.”
He added that the continued use of Iranian-made Shahed drones highlights the nature of Russia’s actions, despite the ceasefire declaration.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces have maintained their positions in Russia’s Kursk region and have advanced in the Belgorod region, expanding their area of control.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed its forces would observe the ceasefire only if Ukraine did the same. The statement also emphasized that Russian troops would remain ready to respond to any “provocations.”
Earlier, Ukrainian authorities urged citizens to stay alert during the Easter holidays, warning of potential Russian airstrikes, sabotage, and provocations. The SBU, MIA, and SES called on the public to follow air raid alerts, avoid mass gatherings, and observe safety precautions—especially in high-risk regions.
