Zelenskyy Meets Dutch King and PM, Welcomes $815M in New Defense Aid for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof in Berlin and The Hague over the previous two days and held an audience with King Willem-Alexander at Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague, according to Zelenskyy’s Telegram post on December 16.
Zelenskyy said he thanked the Netherlands for its defense and political support since Russia’s full-scale invasion and singled out a recently announced $815 million package for Ukraine’s defense needs.

He also stated that Dutch backing for the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) program was helping Ukraine acquire US-made weapons that are not produced in Europe, adding that “first and foremost,” these included air defense missiles.
Zelenskyy said Kyiv was also working on joint defense production with the Netherlands, including modern drones, describing such steps as particularly important as Ukraine continues to defend its independence.
In a separate message about his audience with the Dutch monarch, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the dialogue and support, thanking the Dutch people for what he described as “strong and unwavering solidarity” with Ukraine.
Earlier, it was announced that a new defense package worth approximately $815 million for Ukraine in 2026 would be implemented, building on existing commitments and including funding for medical supplies and military equipment.
