Zelenskyy: No Pressure from Partners for Russia Peace Negotiations Although It Might Be “In the Air”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had affirmed that Ukraine’s partners aren’t forcing peace negotiations with Russia, although “it’s in the air.”
“Partners are not pushing us, although it seems to me that it is in the air. And here, we just need to be very persistent and strong. And today, we have chosen the right platform for our initiative, the Peace Summit,” the President said.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who arrived on May 15 for a visit to Ukraine, stated that the United States does not influence Ukraine regarding negotiations with the Russian Federation.
At the same time, according to recent statement by Europe 1, Western countries seem to be seeking to persuade Volodymyr Zelenskyy to agree to negotiations on ending the Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“Western diplomatic offices are preparing coordinated diplomatic actions to persuade Volodymyr Zelenskyy to accept the principle of negotiations,” the statement said.
It’s been announced previously that the First Global Peace Summit is scheduled for June 15-16 in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, potentially drawing participation from 80 to 100 countries.
Zelenskyy believes that Ukraine would gain a diplomatic advantage if multiple countries participate in the summit and an official communiqué is issued afterwards.
