The Ukrainian government has already sent this proposal to Moscow using American officials as intermediaries. Zelenskyy explained that Kyiv is prepared to respond in kind to any cessation of attacks on the power grid.

The President noted that Ukraine has made several similar attempts to reduce the intensity of the fighting in the past.

He mentioned previous proposals for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays, though those initiatives did not receive a positive response from the Russian side.

Zelenskyy stated that Russia does not show interest in peace while it still possesses the resources to continue its military operations. Because of this, he emphasized the importance of increasing international pressure on the country.

Ukraine continues to work on new security agreements with various international partners. The President expressed gratitude for the growing respect for Ukraine’s role as a security partner and stated that the country remains open to cooperating with those who respect its sovereignty and independence.

“If Russia is ready to stop strikes on Ukrainian energy, we will be ready to respond to them mirror-wise,” Zelenskyy stated.

“Our goal is absolutely clear – we need stability and peace in Europe, we need stability and peace in the Middle East and in the Gulf, as well as in other globally important regions. So that the world does not know such problems through destabilized markets, destroyed energy, disrupted navigation, nuclear threat or food insecurity,” the President added.

“Everyone deserves security – and there will be more of our new security agreements. Which will definitely strengthen Ukraine. Now very different states want to cooperate with Ukraine as a security partner, but we are open to joint work with all those who support our sovereignty, our independence and respect our people. I thank you for the fact that Ukraine has become such and that Ukraine is respected so much,” Zelenskyy concluded.

In March 2026, Ukraine launched more attack drones than Russia for the first time since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. According to data analyzed by ABC News, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have downed a record 7,347 Ukrainian drones during that month, while the Ukrainian Air Force reported defending against 6,462 Russian drones.

While Russia previously maintained a clear advantage in long-range strikes, these figures suggested a shift in the balance of power as Ukraine’s efforts to build domestic strike capabilities showed measurable results.

Ukraine focused its aerial campaign on Russian oil refining and transportation infrastructure, including vital ports in the Baltic Sea, while maintaining that these were legitimate targets used to fund the invasion.
