“Requesting evacuation via drone!” The crackle of radio chatter cuts through the air as a metal beast rumbles to life, its wheels grinding against rubble. The ground drone may look like nothing more than a metal box on wheels, but for Ukrainian soldiers, it’s a lifeline.

Ukraine is forming a new military unit known as the Drone Line, designed to harness the country’s battlefield experience with drones and UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) to deliver enhanced support for infantry units.

At the close of 2024, the Ukrainian 13th National Guard Brigade "Khartiia" surprised the Russian forces by executing the first-ever combined-arms maneuver conducted solely with drones. This historic attack involved a wide range of systems, from ground drones fitted with machine-gun mounts to FPVs.

Ukraine’s vital efforts in developing its missile capabilities is a mission rooted in a long history of missile production and driven by the urgent need to defend against Russian aggression.
