Black Smoke Rises Over Two Russian Oil Sites After Long-Range Drone Strikes

Ukrainian drones struck a major oil pumping station in Russia’s Bashkortostan region and a fuel depot in Ulyanovsk region, triggering large fires at both facilities, according to OSINT community Exilenova+ on July 23.

Videos published by residents showed flames and thick black smoke rising from the affected sites.

Liutyi long-range strike drones reportedly targeted the Subkhankulovo linear production and dispatch station near the city of Tuymazy.

The facility belongs to Transneft-Ural and forms part of Russia’s main oil transportation network.

Subkhankulovo is linked to pipelines carrying crude oil and petroleum products between Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, and other Russian regions.

The complex includes three pumping stations and 10 storage tanks. It services four pipeline sections with a combined length of approximately 612 kilometers, or 380 miles.

One of the tanks caught fire following the attack, sending a dense column of black smoke high above the facility. Local reports claimed that as many as eight drones struck the site.

Separately, drones hit an oil depot in Novospasskoye, Ulyanovsk region. At least one storage tank was reported burning at the facility.

Earlier, reports emerged that Russian oil companies have restored slightly less than half of their refining capacity damaged by drone strikes in recent months.

As a result, facilities with a combined capacity of 45 million tons of crude annually remain offline.
