Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that his government will soon unveil a new military assistance package for Ukraine worth approximately $633 million, including air defense systems, military vehicles, and ammunition.

Speaking at the beginning of his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Ankara, Carney said the formal announcement would be made in the near future, according to UNITED24 Media correspondent.

Although the Canadian prime minister did not specify the currency during his initial comments, the package is valued at 900 million Canadian dollars (around US$633 million).

According to Carney, the aid package will include military vehicles, ammunition, and additional air defense capabilities.

Zelenskyy noted during the meeting that Ukraine had already received an air defense package previously provided by Canada.

Carney also said Ottawa intends to continue supporting Ukraine's energy sector, reconstruction efforts, and broader economic resilience. He added that pressure on Russia would continue to intensify and expressed confidence in Ukraine's eventual victory.

During the meeting, Zelenskyy also thanked Canada for its continued military support, noting that Ukraine had already received a substantial air defense assistance package, with additional components currently on their way.

While declining to provide further details, the Ukrainian president acknowledged that Kyiv continues to face a critical shortage of interceptor missiles for its air defense systems.

“Right now, we have a major, perhaps even the biggest, shortage in air defense. At the same time, we have received a large package from Canada. We are grateful to you for this,” Zelenskyy said.
