Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,140 Troops and 78 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russian occupation forces lost another 1,140 troops and 78 artillery systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on May 19.
According to the latest figures, Russia’s total estimated personnel losses since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, have reached approximately 1,351,150.

Ukraine’s military also reported the destruction of one tank, one armored combat vehicle, 11 ground robotic systems, four cruise missiles, and 2,142 operational-tactical drones over the past day.
Russian logistics losses also continued to rise, with 262 vehicles and fuel tankers destroyed, along with two pieces of special equipment.

Overall, Russian equipment losses reported by Ukraine now include 11,940 tanks, 24,584 armored combat vehicles, 42,340 artillery systems, 1,792 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,386 air defense systems, 436 aircraft, 353 helicopters, 299,199 operational-tactical drones, 4,632 cruise missiles, 33 ships and boats, and two submarines.
The General Staff added that 236 combat engagements took place along the front line over the past day, as Ukrainian Defense Forces continued to repel Russian attacks across multiple sectors.
Earlier, reports emerged that Russia’s prison population has fallen to its lowest level since the early 2000s, with officials attributing part of the decline to the recruitment of inmates for military service in Ukraine.
