Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,490 Troops, 68 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russia lost an estimated 1,490 troops and 68 artillery systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on August 24.

According to the latest Ukrainian military figures, Russia’s total personnel losses since the beginning of its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, have reached approximately 1,478,070.

Russia’s total estimated equipment losses now include 12,293 tanks, 25,211 armored combat vehicles, 48,519 artillery systems, 2,056 multiple-launch rocket systems, 1,586 air defense systems, 440 aircraft, 354 helicopters, 2,368 unmanned ground systems, 478,327 operational-tactical UAVs, 5,052 cruise missiles, 35 ships and boats, two submarines, 138,773 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4,575 pieces of special equipment.

Over the past day alone, Russian forces also lost one tank, nine armored combat vehicles, two multiple-launch rocket systems, one air defense system, 16 unmanned ground systems, 1,761 operational-tactical UAVs, 554 vehicles and fuel tankers, and six pieces of special equipment.

Ukrainian forces recorded 231 combat engagements across the front over the previous day, according to the General Staff.

The heaviest fighting was reported in the Kostiantynivka sector, where Russian forces launched 35 attacks.

Russia also carried out 95 airstrikes using 299 guided aerial bombs. Russian forces deployed 10,747 suicide drones and conducted 3,110 attacks against Ukrainian military positions and settlements, including 29 strikes involving multiple-launch rocket systems.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces and artillery struck eight concentrations of Russian personnel, six drone command posts, five artillery systems, a command post, a communications hub, two multiple-launch rocket systems and a Russian radar station.

Previously, reports emerged that Ukraine’s Armed Forces are inflicting losses on Russia worth several times more than the cost of the weapons used to cause them, according to data tracked by the Mission Control module of Ukraine’s DELTA battlefield management system.

According to Mission Control data for June, every $1 Ukraine spent on engaging Russian targets produced approximately $5 in estimated losses for Russia.
