Daily Update: Russia Loses 970 Troops and 80 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russian forces lost another 970 troops and 80 artillery systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on May 5.
The latest figures bring Russia’s total estimated personnel losses since the start of the full-scale war to approximately 1,336,120.

According to the update, Russian forces have also lost 11,917 tanks and 24,510 armored fighting vehicles. Total artillery losses have climbed to 41,386 systems, alongside 1,770 multiple launch rocket systems and 1,361 air defense units.
In the air, losses remain unchanged at 435 aircraft and 352 helicopters. Ukrainian forces have also destroyed 274,030 operational-tactical drones and 4,584 cruise missiles since the start of the invasion.
Russia’s naval losses stand at 33 vessels and two submarines.

Logistical losses continue to mount, with 94,030 vehicles and fuel tankers destroyed, along with 4,170 units of specialized equipment. Ground-based robotic systems losses have reached 1,320 units.
Over the same period, 149 combat engagements were recorded along the front line, as Ukrainian defense forces continued to repel Russian assaults.
Earlier, reports emerged that the combined confirmed deaths from Bashkortostan and Tatarstan, two constituent republics of the Russian Federation in the Volga-Urals region, have now exceeded the total losses suffered by the Soviet Union during its 10-year military campaign in Afghanistan.
