Strike drones hit Russian petrochemical and oil industry facilities overnight on June 12, triggering fires at sites in the Samara region and Tatarstan, according to footage and photos published by the OSINT community Exilenova+ on June 12.

According to Exilenova, drones struck the Togliattikauchuk petrochemical plant in Tolyatti, Samara region.

Footage from the area showed thick black smoke rising over the facility after the strike. Russian air defense and electronic warfare systems were reportedly active in the city as they attempted to counter the incoming drones.

Togliattikauchuk is one of the largest industrial enterprises in the region and a strategic facility for Russia’s petrochemical sector. The plant accounts for roughly a quarter of Russia’s synthetic rubber market.

The facility produces four types of rubber and chemical components used in tires and rubber products. It also manufactures high-octane fuel additives for gasoline, hydrocarbon fractions, and organic synthesis products.

Drones also attacked an industrial facility in Nizhnekamsk, a city in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, overnight.

According to Exilenova+, the target was Nizhnekamskneftekhim, one of Russia’s major petrochemical producers. At the same time, social media reports suggested that another facility may have been hit instead: the Nizhnekamsk oil refinery, operated by TANECO.

The TANECO refinery is one of Russia’s newest and largest oil refineries. It is a strategic asset of the Tatneft group and produces more than 20 types of high-quality petroleum products.

The exact target in Nizhnekamsk has not yet been independently confirmed, but reports from the area point to a strike on a major facility tied to Russia’s petrochemical or refining sector.

The attacks add to Ukraine’s wider campaign against Russian industrial infrastructure that supports Moscow’s war economy, including oil refineries, fuel depots, petrochemical plants, and transport-linked production sites.

Earlier, drones and missiles struck the Kuibyshev oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region, sparking several fires across the facility.

The plant has a designed processing capacity of around 7 million tons of oil per year. It mainly produces gasoline and diesel fuel, as well as aviation kerosene and fuel oil.
