An OSINT analyst with the outlet examined the images and assessed that the fire may be located near the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat refinery. However, the exact location of the blaze has not been confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Exilenova Telegram channel released additional footage from Salavat, reporting that the refinery had come under attack. The extent of any damage to the facility remains unclear.

Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is part of Russia’s Gazprom Group and has an annual processing capacity of up to 10 million tons of hydrocarbon feedstock.

The facility produces more than 150 types of products, including gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, polyethylene, styrene, and ammonia.

Ukrainian long-range strikes have put 51% of Russia’s oil refining capacity out of operation, Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara said on October 4. According to him, recent operations have targeted several major Russian oil refineries and related facilities, including KINEF, Ust-Luga, Moscow, Yaroslavl, Perm, Ilsky, Saratov, and Syzran.

Khmara aded that the disruption had dealt a significant blow to Russia’s economy, military logistics, and ability to continue the war, adding that Ukrainian long-range operations were continuing to bring the conflict onto Russian territory.
