Melania Trump Adviser With No Diplomatic Background Coordinates US Side of Oleshky Evacuation

Mark Beckman, a private adviser to US First Lady Melania Trump with a background in marketing and media, is coordinating the US side of a planned civilian evacuation from temporarily Russian-occupied Oleshky, former Voice of America journalist and Razom for Ukraine  media adviser Ostap Yarysh wrote on Facebook.

Oleshky has been under Russian occupation since 2022, with around 2,000 civilians being previously trapped amid severe shortages of food, medicine, water, electricity, and heating. Russian forces have mined roads, blocked humanitarian access, and attacked evacuation routes with drones, making it extremely difficult for residents to leave safely.

Yarysh stated that Beckman is not a US government official and does not work in the Office of the First Lady, despite describing himself on social media as an “exclusive senior adviser.”

Beckman is the founder of advertising agency DMA United and has worked with brands in fashion, entertainment, and sports, Yarysh noted. His professional background does not include diplomatic, political, or humanitarian work.

According to Yarysh, Beckman has collaborated with Melania Trump for years on media and business projects and served as a producer of the documentary “Melania,” which was released this year with production backed by Amazon.

Regarding the planned evacuation from Oleshky, Yarysh wrote that, to his understanding, official US representatives currently do not plan to participate in the operation on the ground.

The American side is instead expected to be represented by a Newsmax television crew, while other media organizations could potentially receive access later, according to Yarysh.

“These days, we will witness one of the most difficult humanitarian operations since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion,” Yarysh wrote.

“But there is no need to worry. After all, on the American side, it is being coordinated by the first lady’s private consultant and the producer of a film about Melania Trump,” he added.

The humanitarian arrangement in Oleshky has already entered its implementation phase. A local ceasefire remained in effect for at least 30 hours without reported incidents, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that US mediation and the presence of journalists were important because Ukraine could not trust the Russian side.
