Melania Trump Plans Ukraine-Russia Meeting at White House. Kremlin Says It Knows Nothing About It

US First Lady Melania Trump will convene representatives of Ukraine and Russia at the White House on November 5 to discuss the ceasefire in Oleshky, the White House announced on November 3.
The White House stated that Melania Trump had independently initiated engagement between the two countries and helped secure the ceasefire in Oleshky and the surrounding Kherson region.

The town of Oleshky, temporarily occupied by Russian forces since February 2022, had been largely cut off from food, medicine, and safe evacuation routes, with only around 1,700–2,000 residents remaining by autumn 2026. On October 23, the White House announced that Melania Trump had helped secure a temporary ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia to allow humanitarian aid deliveries and civilian evacuations, which began later that month.
US First Lady is expected to deliver remarks on the ceasefire at 11 a.m. ET on November 5. The White House did not specify the level of Ukrainian or Russian representation expected at the meeting.

Ukrainian delegation to the meeting at the White House with Melania Trump will be led by David Arakhamia, the head of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s “Servant of the People” party Oleksandr Korniienko said in a comment to TSN.
Meanwhile, Astra reported that the Kremlin had not been informed about the planned gathering. Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, told journalists that he “does not know anything about it yet.”
The White House described the planned meeting as “an extraordinary moment in American history” and called Melania Trump’s role “an unprecedented diplomatic initiative by an American First Lady.”
The ceasefire also created a window for evacuations elsewhere in the Kherson region. Ukrainian forces evacuated 167 civilians, including 22 children and 21 people with limited mobility, from settlements on the Ukrainian-controlled right bank during the humanitarian pause.
