Ukraine and Poland have resumed negotiations on a potential transfer of Polish MiG-29 fighter jets in exchange for Ukrainian drone technologies, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

Speaking at a press conference on July 9, Kosiniak-Kamysz stated the discussions are part of broader efforts to incorporate lessons learned from Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine into Poland's defense capabilities, according to PAP.
“There is a clear proposal: MiGs for drones. The Ukrainians said ‘yes,’ then they began to consider it, and now they are negotiating again, which is a good thing. I hope this proposal will be successfully concluded,” the minister said.
The renewed negotiations follow a series of recent statements by the Polish defense minister regarding the proposed arrangement.

A week earlier, Kosiniak-Kamysz said Poland would not proceed with transferring its MiG-29 fighter jets because the two sides had failed to reach an agreement on exchanging the aircraft for Ukrainian drone technology.
According to the minister, Warsaw had proposed a reciprocal arrangement under which it would supply the fighter jets in return for access to Ukraine's drone technologies and battlefield expertise.
However, in a separate statement published by Poland's Ministry of National Defense on July 6, Kosiniak-Kamysz said Warsaw had not yet made a final decision on transferring additional MiG-29 fighter jets despite receiving a renewed request from Kyiv, adding that the proposal remained under review.
