Production of Patriot PAC-3 interceptor missiles in Ukraine could begin within the coming weeks, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said, highlighting Warsaw's role in the planned manufacturing effort.

According to PAP on July 9 Kosiniak-Kamysz said Poland's involvement would be essential to transferring the necessary technology and equipment for the project.

“Our country is one of four NATO members—alongside Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands—that was granted the status in Ankara allowing the transfer of technologies related to the production and maintenance of Patriot missiles,” the minister said.

Kosiniak-Kamysz added that Poland would cooperate with Ukraine on the missile production program, with preparations expected to take only several weeks.

He noted that establishing production would be challenging, given the global shortage of Patriot interceptors, including in the United States.

“That is why this must be done very quickly. We are fully determined. Poland is ready to immediately begin servicing and carrying out further activities,” he said.

The announcement comes as Ukraine and its partners seek to expand domestic defense manufacturing and strengthen the country's air defense capabilities in response to sustained Russian missile and drone attacks.

Speaking in an interview with journalist Ramina Eshakzai on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Ankara on July 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine had secured another package of Patriot PAC-3 interceptor missiles but stressed that current deliveries remain insufficient to counter the scale of Russia's aerial assaults.

“One PAC-3 package is coming—I won't say when—one PAC-3 package; we've agreed on that. But that's not enough,” Zelenskyy said.
