Poland Prepares €50 Million Military Package to Power Up Ukraine’s F-16 Fleet

Poland is preparing a new defense support commitment for Kyiv valued at €50 million ($57 million), designed to bolster aerial combat capabilities amidst Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
According to Deputy Defense Minister Stanislaw Wziontek, who spoke to Polskie Radio, the upcoming assistance package centers on aviation equipment and critical ammunition for Western-supplied F-16 fighter jets.

The military supplies inside the support initiative focus heavily on munitions designed to intercept and neutralize incoming strike drones.
"Our assistance is currently being prepared. Everything will happen shortly. I cannot reveal the specific details of its contents, but I can state that it is precisely what Ukraine requires right now. This involves foundational munitions, specifically those mounted on F-16s to shoot down Russian drones," Wziontek said to Polskie Radio.
To protect airspace against aerial threats, Ukrainian F-16 squadrons rely on AIM-9 and AIM-120 air-to-air missiles. Ukrainian forces have also integrated APKWS II laser-guided rockets onto the jet platforms, serving as a cost-effective solution against unmanned air vehicles.
Beyond air-launched arms, Warsaw may include additional aviation hardware, such as decommissioned MiG-29 fighters or unmanned platforms.
Polish authorities are also weighing the delivery of Patriot air defense interceptors to Ukraine following a recent crash incident involving a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile inside Polish territory.
In July 2026, Poland declassified previously secret details regarding its military assistance to Ukraine, revealing for the first time that it had supplied Patriot PAC-3 interceptor missiles alongside a wide range of armored vehicles, air defense systems, aircraft, and ammunition worth billions of dollars.
