Russia Drops Record 8,300 Guided Glide Bombs On Ukraine in July

Russia dropped a record number of guided glide bombs along the front line in Ukraine during July 2026, setting a new monthly high even as combat intensity stayed elevated across the theater, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense reported.
The ministry published the assessment on August 4, drawing on figures from the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces covering the previous month.

Russian aviation used more than 8,300 aerial bombs fitted with universal planning and correction modules over July, the largest total recorded in any month of the war, according to the ministry. The figure edged past June's count of 8,266 such munitions, the General Staff noted.
Combat intensity remained high throughout the month, with the General Staff logging 7,922 engagements along the front, averaging more than 250 clashes per day. That marked an increase over the 7,316 engagements recorded in June, the ministry added.

Russian forces also carried out nearly 97,000 shellings over the month, including more than 1,300 fired from multiple-launch rocket systems, according to the General Staff.
Guided glide bombs have become one of Russia's most destructive tools against Ukrainian front-line cities and positions, released from aircraft far behind the contact line and beyond the reach of most Ukrainian air defenses.
Kyiv has been counting on incoming Swedish Gripen fighters armed with long-range Meteor air-to-air missiles, which can strike targets more than 200 kilometers away, to push Russian aircraft back from the zones where they launch such bombs.
