Russian forces carried out a drone attack across Ukraine from 07:00 to 19:00, launching approximately 140 strike drones. The majority of the unmanned aerial vehicles targeted Kyiv.

Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted and shot down 120 of the incoming strike drones, with approximately 100 of the launched drones identified as jet-powered models. During the operation, Russian drones altered their flight behavior, making sharp 180-degree mid-flight turns—a maneuver rarely observed in previous attacks.

In Kyiv on August 27, air raid sirens sounded 11 times, with the total duration of alerts exceeding 11 hours. This daytime targeting represents unusual timing for Russian forces, who typically launch strike drones at night.

The air strikes caused damage in multiple locations. In Kyiv, falling debris hit the roof of a dormitory in the Desnyanskyi district, while a four-story building was damaged in the Podilskyi district.

In Sumy, two drones hit the grounds of a civilian enterprise, and a 66-year-old woman was wounded in a separate strike in the Sumy region. Additional strikes were recorded in other areas.

In Kharkiv, a drone hit the Osnovyanskyi district. In the Kherson region, Russian forces launched an attack using aviation, artillery, and various types of drones, killing one man and injuring nine other people. The head of the regional military administration reported that significant damage to the local thermal power plant means it will likely be unable to operate normally.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, nine people were injured after Russian forces shelled the Nikopol and Synelnykove districts 40 times throughout the day. These daytime strikes followed overnight attacks on the capital.

Overnight, Russian forces launched at least four ballistic missiles at Kyiv, followed by continued drone activity into the day.

In the Holosiivskyi district, a drone fell onto a roadway and a non-residential building, causing a roof fire and injuring three people. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, falling debris damaged two educational institutions, including a gymnasium, and shattered windows at a municipal medical clinic.

Debris was also recorded falling in an open area and a residential courtyard in the Podilskyi district, while a grass fire was triggered in the Pecherskyi district. Emergency services, rescuers, and bomb disposal personnel were deployed to the affected sites.
