According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on November 5, Russian troops launched 7,947 Molniya and Lancet drones for tactical-level strikes during the seven-day period. Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully neutralized 7,225 of these UAVs.

According to the Ukrainian military, Russian forces deployed an average of more than 1,100 Molniya and Lancet drones per day throughout the reporting period, reflecting the intensity of drone operations along the front line.

The highest number of Molniya drones was recorded on October 30, when Russian forces launched 1,609 of these UAVs in a single day.

The latest figures follow a broader assessment of Russia’s aerial attacks throughout October, during which Ukrainian forces intercepted thousands of missiles and drones operating both near the front line and across the country.

On November 4, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense reported, citing data from the Ukrainian Air Force, that Ukrainian air defense units had intercepted more than 8,000 Russian aerial targets during October 2026, while Ukrainian forces neutralized an additional 43,000 tactical drones.

Among the missiles intercepted were 14 Kh-101 cruise missiles, 12 Kalibr cruise missiles, 11 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, eight Iskander-K cruise missiles, seven Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles, and one Zircon anti-ship missile.

Ukrainian forces also neutralized 143 S8000 Banderol weapons, alongside thousands of Russian unmanned aerial vehicles.

The largest category comprised 4,455 Shahed-131/136 attack drones, Gerbera drones, and Parodiya decoys. Ukrainian air defenses also intercepted 2,688 Shahed-238 drones, 1,104 reconnaissance UAVs, and 809 Lancet loitering munitions, according to the ministry’s figures.

As Russia continues to deploy large numbers of drones against Ukrainian targets, Ukraine has also been developing additional electronic warfare measures to counter the threat, particularly from long-range Shahed UAVs.

According to Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov, a presidential adviser on defense technologies, Russian forces remotely control Shahed drones through interconnected mesh radio networks.

The electronic protection system is intended to interfere with these communication links, adding another layer to Ukraine’s defenses against Russian drone attacks.
