“Russia Will Burn”—Ukraine Plans to Dismantle Russian Defense Capabilities From Within

Ukraine will systematically disable Russia’s military capabilities by targeting key infrastructure, naval assets, and logistical networks, according to acting Defense Minister Major General Yevhen Khmara.

Strikes will also continue against fuel, energy, and industrial sites supporting Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Announcing the strategy on August 12, 2026, following a military leadership meeting, Khmara emphasized that long-range Ukrainian pressure aims to force the aggressor country toward a just peace through increasingly accurate and mass-produced weaponry.

Highlighting recent defense achievements, he pointed to a recent operation targeting Novorossiysk as a demonstration of Ukraine's growing tactical synchronization.

"A combined strike was delivered with missiles, jet drones, and naval drones. Russia proved powerless against the synchronized operation of Ukrainian strike assets," Khmara stated, crediting the success to enhanced integration within the Defense Forces.

Expanding deep strikes across Russian territory remains a central objective for Ukrainian military leadership, with pressure set to increase steadily. During a strategic meeting led by the President, officials established next steps for long-range operations.

"Today, at a meeting chaired by the President, further joint steps were determined. Ukrainian operations will become increasingly complex to counter. Ukrainian weapons will only become more mass-produced. Strikes will be more precise. Russia will burn," Khmara said.

During the Ukrainian Youth Forum on August 12, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine and its partner nations had established a joint action plan aimed at forcing Vladimir Putin to end the full-scale invasion.

Emphasizing the need to bring the war back to Russian territory so that its society would feel the consequences and pressure the Kremlin, Zelenskyy urged international partners to bolster defense support, particularly air defense systems, as Moscow prepared for an autumn mobilization.
