“In the Solomianskyi district, a UAV struck a school building. There is a fire. The children were in the shelter. Emergency services are heading to the scene,” Klitschko said.

No casualties were immediately reported following the strike.

The school was hit as Russia continued its latest wave of drone attacks on the Ukrainian capital.

Earlier overnight, another strike caused a fire on the ground floor of a 16-story residential building in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district, while a warehouse caught fire in the Obolonskyi district.

At least one person injured during the overnight attacks received medical treatment.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the school following the latest strike as authorities worked to extinguish the fire and assess the damage.

Previously, reports emerged that Russia has significantly intensified its aerial strikes against Ukraine during September, launching 3,177 jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles compared to 2,850 recorded in August.
