A Russian drone strike on a gas station in Ukraine’s southern Kherson region killed one person and injured seven others on June 5.

According to the Kherson Regional Military Administration head Oleksandr Prokudin, the strike took place around 1:10 p.m. and triggered a fire at the facility. According to him, the strike targeted an area where civilians regularly stop with their vehicles while traveling.
“The strike hit a place where there are always civilian cars and people who simply stopped along the road. The occupiers knew this perfectly well,” he said.
Prokudin added that preliminary information identified the victim as a 35-year-old woman.
The seven injured civilians are receiving medical treatment. Two men, aged 61 and 55, were reported to be in serious condition, with doctors fighting to save their lives.
The latest strike comes just two days after another deadly wave of Russian attacks on Kherson. On June 3, Russian forces targeted the city with drone strikes, killing two civilians and injuring nine others, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.
The attacks sparked fires in apartments inside a multi-story residential building and caused several large blazes across the city. Emergency crews were dispatched to extinguish the fires and assist residents affected by the bombardment.

Rescue operations were further complicated by the threat of follow-up strikes while emergency personnel were working at the scene. According to the State Emergency Service, responders provided first aid to wounded civilians during one of the repeated attacks before transferring them to police officers for evacuation to medical facilities.
Kherson City Military Administration head Yaroslav Shanko reported that a large-scale Russian drone attack in the city’s Dniprovskyi district set a multi-story residential building ablaze. The fire destroyed 36 apartments and affected 63 residents.
In addition, a Russian drone attack on Kyiv region’s Brovary district early on June 5 left four people dead and four others wounded.
The strike hit a civilian food production enterprise, where employees were on duty at the time of the attack, Kalashnyk said.
