Russian Guided Bombs Strike Sumy Residential Zone, Killing Three Including Children

A Russian aerial attack on the city of Sumy on August 4, killed three people, including two girls aged 5 and 10, as well as a 75-year-old woman.

Emergency workers recovered the bodies of the two children from beneath the rubble of their destroyed residence, according to Oleh Hryhorov, Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

In total, Russian forces directed six guided aerial bombs into civilian infrastructure targets across the city, while Ukrainian defenses intercepted two additional incoming bombs.

The bombardment in Sumy resulted in additional casualties, including a 69-year-old woman who sustained injuries and a 37-year-old man who was hurt in a related drone strike.

Medical personnel also treated two women, aged 32 and 42, who experienced acute stress reactions following the impacts.

Other areas of the Sumy region experienced fatal drone strikes on the same day. An 88-year-old woman lost her life after a drone struck private residential property in the Richky community.

In the nearby Shostka community, a separate drone impact injured a 50-year-old man.

Overnight strikes extended beyond the regional borders into Mykolaiv and the surrounding oblast.

Russian forces launched Shahed-type attack drones across the area, resulting in the death of an 89-year-old woman and injuries to seven other individuals, including two young girls aged 2 and 12.

On July 11, Russia launched a separate guided bomb attack on Sumy that killed five civilians and injured 43 others.

Among those killed was a 13-year-old girl who died at a public transport stop alongside three adult men and a minibus driver.
