Three people were killed after a Russian strike targeted the Shyroke community in Ukraine's Kryvyi Rih district of the Dnipropetrovsk region, regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha said on August 3.

According to Hanzha, the attack struck the community, igniting a fire at the impact site.

The strike also damaged a gas station and several vehicles, he said.

Emergency services were working at the scene.

The latest strike comes days after another deadly Russian attack on the Kryvyi Rih area. Reuters reported on July 30, citing two sources, that Russian forces had used a North Korean-made ballistic missile in an overnight strike near the city, marking the first suspected use of the weapon in nearly a year.

The missile attack was part of a wider barrage involving dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones that killed at least eight people across Ukraine.

According to Reuters, the missile struck the settlement of Radushne near Kryvyi Rih, killing at least six members of the same family.

In general, Russian forces launched an estimated 126 ballistic missiles against Ukraine in July, including Iskander-M, North Korean KN-23, and S-300 and S-400 systems, setting a new monthly high for 2026.
