Russian Lancet Drone Strikes Ambulance in Donetsk Region, Killing Medic

A Russian “Lancet” drone struck an active ambulance in the town of Yasnohirka, killing one emergency medical worker and wounding two others, Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, reported on September 11.
He stated that the unmanned aerial vehicle hit the emergency response vehicle around noon while it was traveling through the city.

Filashkin characterized the strike as a deliberate attack on rescue personnel. “When a Russian Lancet hits an ambulance driving through the city, it is difficult to call it anything other than a hunt for those who save lives,” the regional head stated.
He emphasized that medical workers in the Donetsk region routinely deploy into active combat zones under continuous fire to evacuate the wounded.
In his statement, Filashkin noted that the Russian military is explicitly targeting frontline paramedics who operate in environments where “every second counts.”

Acknowledging the loss of the emergency worker, the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration stated that the incident was “hard to accept even after everything we have seen over the years of the war.” He extended his condolences to the victim’s family and commended the region’s medics who continue to respond to calls despite the severe risks.
Targeting rescue operations remains a recurring pattern across the Donetsk region, where a Russian FPV drone also struck a police “White Angel” evacuation team in Druzhkivka.
The strike wounded three officers and two civilians, including a mobility-impaired resident being transported in a wheelchair, while a second drone attempted a follow-up attack as the team administered first aid to themselves and the evacuees.
