Russian FPV Drone Hits Civilian Evacuation Team in Donetsk Region, Injuring Five

A Russian FPV drone struck a Ukrainian police evacuation team from the White Angel unit while officers were evacuating two civilians from the frontline city of Druzhkivka in Ukraine's Donetsk region, injuring three police officers and the two civilians, regional police said on July 10.
Police spokesperson Pavlo Diachenko told Suspilne Donbas that the attack occurred on July 8.

According to Donetsk regional police, the White Angel unit was evacuating a man with limited mobility together with his son. Officers were moving on foot, transporting the man in a wheelchair when the Russian drone targeted the group.
The evacuation was being filmed by journalists from the Ukrainian television channel Inter when the FPV drone struck.
“Three police officers and both civilians sustained shrapnel wounds. They had only a few minutes to stop the bleeding and bandage their own injuries as well as those of the civilians before a second drone began its attack run,” the police said.
Despite the attack, the wounded officers and civilians managed to reach the evacuation vehicle and leave Druzhkivka.
All five survived the strike and are currently receiving medical treatment, according to the police.
The attack is the latest in a series of reported Russian strikes on evacuation and humanitarian missions.

In May, a United Nations humanitarian convoy operating near the town of Bilozerka in Ukraine's southern Kherson region was also hit by drone strikes, damaging several UN-marked vehicles. Ukrainian authorities accused Russian forces of deliberately targeting the mission.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the convoy had been struck twice and argued that the attackers could not have mistaken the vehicles for military targets.
The strike also comes amid an intensifying Russian campaign against Ukraine's civilian infrastructure. According to Forbes Ukraine, at least 150 gas stations and fuel facilities have been damaged or destroyed over the past two months, with six of the country's largest fuel retailers coming under attack between July 3 and July 6.
