"As of 11:30, the number of people killed has risen to nine. Unfortunately, the bodies of three children were recovered from the rubble of the apartment building," police stated.
Seven children were among the 38 people injured. Search operations continued for people who may remain trapped beneath the debris.
Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi added that emergency operations were underway at eight locations in Kyiv and the Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, and Poltava regions following the combined Russian attack.
Vyhivskyi earlier reported that the strikes had killed 12 people across Ukraine and injured more than 40 civilians. Residential buildings, stores, a plumbing warehouse, garages, and a cemetery in Kyiv were among the sites hit.

A police officer was injured in Pryluky, while her husband and mother were killed. Her husband had recently served on the front as part of a police unit, according to Vyhivskyi.
The October 7 attack also prompted authorities to deploy mobile Interior Ministry service centers in Pryluky and Kremenchuk, allowing residents to replace documents lost or destroyed in the strikes.
The deadly toll followed a massive combined assault that Russian forces began at around 18:00 on October 6. The barrage included Zircon, Onyx, Iskander-M, S-400 and North Korean KN-23 missiles, along with 48 Kh-101, Iskander-K and Kalibr cruise missiles and 130 Shahed-type, Gerbera and Parodiya drones.
Ukrainian air defenses neutralized five ballistic missiles, 39 cruise missiles and 117 drones, while an unexploded Iskander 9M723 ballistic missile landed among residential buildings in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district. In Kremenchuk, two people were killed, and seven others were wounded.
